In response to Elaine Vanni’s letter of June 20, I would like to ask the readers to imagine the following scenario. Your own adult child comes to you and says, “Mom, Dad. Even though Nancy is pregnant with my child, we’ve decided not to get married.”
You would of course ask, “Why not?”
Suppose your son replies, “Because there’s this married gay couple that lives down the street.”
Wouldn’t your next response be, “What’s that got to do with you?”
