On May 24, 2008, the Macomb Police Department held the 29th Annual Scott Jennings Memorial Children’s Fishing Contest at Spring Lake Park. Nearly 90 children participated in the event and enjoying a morning of fishing with family and friends. All the contestants exhibited good sportsmanship throughout the contest again this year. The sportsmanship trophy was won by Trenton Smith. On behalf of the Macomb Police Department and the contestants, I would like to thank the following people, businesses and organizations that contributed to the contest: Delorra Smart (in memory of Mike Smart), Frank and Linda Jobe, Angie Barker, Stan Abbott, John Burns, Macomb Park District, Farm King, Engraving by Lin, Gumbart’s, Coca-Cola, Murphy’s Septic Service, Spring Hill Bait and Tackle, HyVee and Macomb Fraternal Order of Police #189. I apologize if I have forgotten someone as many people are involved in this positive community event for area children which continues to exist due to the many years of support from the Macomb and surrounding communities.
