Aldermen are expected to get an update on a long-awaited project. Discussion is scheduled for Monday on construction of an access road connecting Wal-Mart to the J.C. Penney store near Bower Road. Traffic congestion on East Jackson Street would be reduced if shoppers could use the access road back and forth between the stores.
The city council committee of the whole meeting will also see discussion of a loan application from the West Central Illinois Arts Center. The center plans to take possession of a downtown building at the end of the month, and would put the loan money toward exterior repairs and improvements.
An offer to share costs on a culvert installation along East Piper Street will be discussed, as will platform improvements at the Macomb Depot. Public Works Director Walter Burnett is scheduled to brief aldermen on the status of various projects.
The Macomb City Council meets at 5 p.m. Monday at Macomb City Hall.
