Members of the Macomb Park District Board determined on Tuesday night they should plan a formal meeting with city council to reach an agreement on the future control of the city's parks.

Nicholas T. Sheley, 28, Sterling, is wanted for the murder of 93-year-old Russell Reed in Rock Falls on June 26. He is considered a person of interest in the deaths of four people found in a Rock Falls apartment - two adult males, one adult female and a child - as well as being wanted in Festus, Mo.

It was a tough night of competition for the participants in this year's Little Miss and Master contest. They had to wriggle into fancy clothes picked out by Mom and Dad and then get up on stage and try their mightiest to sing and dance their way into the hearts of the judges. But the five girls and three boys vying to be crowned clearly enjoyed the spotlight.

A legal opinion released to the city Thursday by the law firm of March, McMillan & DeJoode states that Macomb has given the Macomb Park District legal responsibility for all city parks, though the district could possibly negotiate operational expenses for Spring Lake Park and Campground.
